Library Handicap

The Library Handicap, managed by the Volunteer of AIAS Bolzano, was created in 1985 with the aim of creating a meeting point and exchange for families who had children with disabilities and to create a documentation centre for professionals in rehabilitation and social workers. The library has tried to follow the sometimes profound transformations that have crossed the world of society and, without fail what are its basic premises, has tried to be open to new approaches and themes.
It consequently increased its books and gave space to the media as a tool for further study, food for thought and / or making it quick in recent years a point of information on disability.
Library books, both in Italian and in German and sometimes in English and French, are arranged in a position of easily accessible open shelves and are located by the method of the Dewey decimal classification. Broken down by themes, the books range from medical, physical, psychology, disability, education, therapy, school integration and / or social security, social culture, architectural barriers, assistive devices and prostheses, laws, experiments and research as well as a wide range of works fiction, biographies and autobiographies.
The library is also a place for consultation and search for books via computer, a workstation with internet access for online research material, relating to the theme of the library.
