The beautiful vacation village Lagundo lies at 355 meters above sea level, to the west of Merano, on a very sunny hill in the valley, surrounded by apple fields and vineyards and is one of the oldest localities in the area of Merano.
300 year old menhirs that were found in Lagundo and can be viewed in the Municipal Museum of Merano are testimony of the early settlement of the area.

The bell tower of the new parish church in the centre of Lagundo is said to be the most successful sacral new building in the whole of South Tyrol.
In the northern outskirts of the village you can find a chairlift that takes you to to Velloi, from there a gondola lift takes you to the hiking area of the nature park Gruppo del Tessa, that offers a wonderful panorama.

A lovely flat and sunny path along the irrigation canal, the so called "Waalweg" of Lagundo, leads you to the Tappeiner Promenade that takes you to Merano and has a wonderful view over the Merano basin.
Close to Lagundo, in Forst, the headquarters of the brewery Forst is situated, the beers of this brewery are very well known in the whole of Italy for their excellent taste.
